Waste and feedstock inputs

Adjust the assumptions to match your available waste stream.

Available waste per day100 TPD
1 TPD1,000 TPD
Operating days per year350 days
1 days365 days
Model CBG sale price₹75/kg
₹1/kg₹250/kg
Current waste disposal cost₹500/ton
₹0/ton₹10,000/ton

Estimated annual potential

Waste managed / year

35,000 tons

CBG / operating day

3.5-4.5 tons

Gross annual CBG value

₹9.2-11.8 Cr

Potential disposal savings

₹175.0 Lakh

This screening estimate applies a feedstock yield band of 35-45 kg CBG per wet ton. Actual output depends on representative testing, moisture, volatile solids, contamination, process design, methane recovery, and uptime.

Calculation method

How the biogas waste calculator works

The model connects daily wet feedstock availability with operating days, a feedstock-specific CBG yield range, your model fuel price, and the current cost of waste disposal.

01

Annual waste managed

Waste TPD × operating days

Shows how much organic material can enter the planned waste-to-energy system each year.

02

CBG production range

Waste TPD × CBG yield (kg/ton) ÷ 1,000

Applies the selected feedstock's screening yield range to daily wet feedstock availability.

03

Gross annual CBG value

Annual CBG tons × 1,000 × ₹/kg

Uses your selected model sale price before operating expenses, tax, finance, and losses.

04

Potential disposal savings

Annual waste tons × current disposal cost

Illustrates the disposal expense that could potentially be redirected or avoided.

Common questions

Calculator FAQs

How much biogas can one ton of waste produce?

Output varies substantially by feedstock, moisture, total solids, volatile solids, contamination, retention time, and process conditions. This calculator uses broad CBG yield ranges for early screening; representative feedstock testing is needed for design.

Does the calculator work for press mud and cattle dung?

Yes. It includes press mud, cattle dung, food waste, Napier grass, maize silage, and poultry litter. Distillery and other liquid effluents should instead be evaluated from flow and COD data.

Is waste disposal saving the same as project revenue?

Not always. Disposal savings depend on the user's current cost and whether that expense is actually avoided after collection, transport, preprocessing, and residual handling.

Can I use this result to size a CBG plant?

Use it for initial screening only. Final sizing needs feedstock testing, monthly availability, storage losses, process selection, methane recovery, utility demand, and operating assumptions.
